The More That You Learn, The More Places You Will Go

Shades readers, we are getting close to the end of August, isn’t it amazing how quickly time flies? Back to school activities are in full swing as parents and kids are shopping and prepping for the new school year to start. If you have been thinking about your own education and maybe upgrading your skills, we hope our focus this month on alternative learning paths have assisted you in considering your next steps.
Today we will complete our focus by discussing online learning. This particular learning path is similar to distance learning but different in that distance learning is usually associated with a school program. If you haven’t checked out our distance learning blog, please take a quick read here.
Online learning has become more and more popular and there is a plethora of websites that you can take a look at that offers courses, talks and instructional videos on any number of topics. The possibilities are endless, and often there is only a small fee for you to sign up.
Here are a few for you to consider:
Youtube – probably the most popular site when it comes to online learning and tutorials about anything and everything.
LinkedIn Learning – formerly Lynda.com, this site covers topics from website development to marketing to photography and much more.
MasterClass – this site explores a variety of material presented by experts in their fields. From Margaret Atwood teaching creative writing to Steph Curry teaching basketball fundamentals, the focus is on the best in their fields sharing their expertise.
Skillshare – the focus for Skillshare is on creativity and the website says ‘Unlock a passion, side hustle, or new professional skill with thousands of classes in design, business, and more.’
Harvard ManageMentor – this site is affiliated to Harvard Business Publishing and focuses heavily on leadership development.
As you can see just from the handful of sites we have highlighted, there is so much to learn and so many different online options for you to explore!
