Love Wins

Toronto’s Pride celebrations kicked off at the beginning of June and reaches its pinnacle with the parade occurring today.  The parade is a fun, high -energy celebration with great music and lots to see. 

With that said, Pride is not only reflective of one day or one month, it is a true reflection of the concepts of diversity and inclusion and crosses over into many facets of life, as we know it in 2018.  Pride has evolved into a wonderful pool of color, hope, love and unity and has given so many people a purpose and an authentic outlet for truth - truth of self and all that comes with it. 

We know that for some, being a member of the LGBTQ community has been a struggle, but for others, it has been easier and hopefully, it is getting easier every day.  Having events that are focused on sharing information and debunking myths and stereotypes have helped immensely in furthering the causes of acceptance and understanding.  We have come a long way from thinking that being gay is just a phase or a lifestyle choice but we still have a long way to go. 

As human beings, we all deserve to be accepted, understood and loved.  Love wins, every time. 

Today, I am looking forward to proudly walking with those who have struggled, those who have had an easier time and those who are supporters and allies. all banded together by the TRUTH that the word PRIDE brings!
