Let's Be Thankful

September is a busy month for many of us.  It is the end of summer (boo hoo) and back to school, both of which herald the end of vacations, road trips and for the most part, just the leisurely enjoyment that we may experience over July and August.  For me, September is indeed very busy.  I celebrate my work and wedding anniversaries (29 and 18 respectively!) as well as my birthday (you’re not getting that number!) -  by the end of the month, friends and family are very  tired of me!  Lol

This year, I have been quite reflective over the month about the last year of my life.  As you may have read in one of our earlier blogs entitled ‘This Blog Could Save Your Life’, I had a rough start to the year.  I had an infection which had progressed to a dangerous stage.  I was hospitalized twice in December and then spent three months on intravenous meds that were administered daily by nurses who came to my home to take care of me.

I think about what I went through every day.  As I have told my story over the months, people often share that they know someone who went through a similar situation.  When I ask how those people are, the news is not always good.

So although I still have some medical challenges, I have a lot to be thankful for and though it can be difficult sometimes, focusing on what is good in your life is probably  one of the most important components to being happy.

As we get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving next weekend, I want you to stop and think about the things in your life that you are thankful for and which make you happy.   We are thankful for you.

Life is short, Shades readers, be kind to yourself and everyone else!
